Retail Meat Cutter Assistant (Summer Job)

Contract Length: June - August 2026 (with possibility of extension)
We are hiring a Retail Meat Cutter Assistant to support daily operations during our busy season. This role is ideal for someone ages 15-30.
Manitoulin Meats is seeking a motivated and reliable Retail Meat Cutter / Assistant to join our team for the summer season. This position is supported by the Canada Summer Jobs program and is ideal for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, community-focused environment.
Position Details
- Start Date: June 2, 2026
- Hours: 30 hours per week
- Wage: $17.60/hour
- Duration: 9 weeks
Responsibilities
- Assist with meat cutting, packing, and weighing
- Prepare and stock retail displays
- Provide customer service and assist with sales
- Operate the cash during busy periods
- Maintain cleanliness and follow food safety standards
What We’re Looking For
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Willingness to learn and take initiative
- Comfortable standing for extended periods and performing physical tasks
- Comfortable interacting with customers
- Ability to work efficiently in a busy environment
Eligibility
(Canada Summer Jobs Requirements)
To be eligible, applicants must:
- Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
- Be legally entitled to work in Canada
